We currently have an opportunity for a Manager of Environmental Health & Safety to join our team at our Appleton, WI manufacturing facility.


The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for providing focus, definition, and technical expertise for the development of a proactive Environmental, Health, and Safety plan that is consistent with Reynolds Consumer Products’ corporate policies, vision, and values; and is in compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.  The role will also work to identify significant problems concerning the environment and worker health and safety; to coordinate, develop, and direct plant EHS efforts to ensure the implementation of these processes and programs to meet the plant’s unique needs.


  • Providing focus, definition and technical expertise for the development of a proactive EHS plan that is consistent with RCP’s corporate policies, vision, values and is in compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
  • Manage necessary environmental, health and safety training to support and enhance the organization’s safety culture while ensuring the plant is in compliance with local, state, federal and Reynold’s Consumer Products Safety requirements.
  • Develop and deploy policies, procedures, programs to support best-practice and identify best-practices with the Reynold’s Consumer Products system.
  • Build and maintain strong communication channels to all levels of operating management and functional departments, as well as the production workforce by conferring with team members on the safe use of equipment, fire protection, and the overall safety program and by providing expert guidance and tactical hands on assistance in all Environmental, Health, and Safety goals and initiatives.
  • Provide communication and training to plant management that will insure all levels of plant personnel understand their roles and functions for identifying and resolving EHS issues, complying with EHS regulations, and minimizing civil and criminal exposure of plant and corporate personnel for plant EHS events and activities.
  • Establish and maintain communications, reporting, assessments, training programs, and guidance necessary to ensure that the location managers are fully informed about all noncompliance and potential noncompliance issues relative to EHS policies and applicable laws and regulations in a timely fashion.
  • Work with the Corporate EHS departments to develop, administer or audit programs and policies and work with plant personnel to inspect facilities and equipment to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommend corrective or preventative measures.
  • Lead/Oversee in the investigation of accidents and injuries to determine their cause. Complies and submits required OSHA accident reports for the South Boston Plant.
  • Ensure all environmental permit requirements are established and remain in compliance.
  • Maintaining awareness of and proactively influencing emerging and existing EHS laws/regulation, which may impact, plant operation. 
  • Provide prioritized direction and technical expertise to the engineering organizations or contractors in implementing EHS projects, while adhering to Reynolds Consumer Products safety expectations.
  • Measures safety performance through computing injury/frequency rates and developing a systematic approach to reduce injuries and risk.
  • As a HACCP team member, participate in the development, implementation and review of the HACCP plan to ensure food safety for the facility.
  • Providing prioritized direction and technical expertise to the engineering organizations or contractors in implementing EHS projects, while adhering to RCP safety expectation.
  • Administers special safety publicity campaigns and safety awards programs.
  • Perform other various duties as required.



Job Requirements

To be considered for the Manager of Environmental Health and Safety opportunity, candidates should possess:



  • BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering or technical discipline or related field.
  • MBA or other advanced degree a plus.
  • Appropriate professional certification of CIH, CSP or CHP a plus


  • 5 years of practical field experience in the EHS management area
  • Environmental experience is a plus.


  • EMT Certification or willingness to attend an EMT certification program to expand medical/first aid skills.
  • Computer skills necessary for generating basic reports, presentations and spreadsheet analysis using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Requires thorough understanding of Reynolds Consumer Products’ EHS objectives, procedures, and policies. 
  • Effective human relation skills, including the ability to communicate, influence, persuade and/or motivate people, are essential. 
  • Requires problem solving and creative skills to deal both objectively and empathetically with organizational problems. 
  • General knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations and policies.
  • Demonstrated legislated knowledge and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to train others. Previous experience and/or knowledge of various training methodologies.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, especially follow-up.
  • Ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to work with different levels within the organization.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, AIB and SQF requirements
