We currently have an opportunity for a Quality and Manufacturing Support Specialist at our headquarters in Lake Forest, IL.

  • Support all parts of the combined business through involvement in the Supplier Quality Management Program.
  • Provide primary support to the Cooking Business Unit, and secondary support to the Food and Waste Bag and Tableware Business Units.
  • Take an active role in the development and implementation of training plant Quality Personnel for RCP’s product quality and safety program known as SQP (or Safe Quality Products).
  • Use statistical process control methods to support quality initiatives and achieve continuous improvement across the business and leveraged Services.


The Quality and Manufacturing Support Specialist will be responsible for: 

  1. RCP Quality systems (SQP documentation)
    • Provide support to align quality procedures and documentation at all RCP locations with the requirements of Safe Quality Products (SQP)
      • Participating in audits of the documented systems in place at each RCP location
      • Updating the top level documented system to keep fully aligned with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards and guidelines
    • Provide support to help correlate and align auditing practices across the Global Quality Team
      • Shadow audits to observe each Auditor to ensure consistency of approach
      • Record where differing techniques can lead to inconsistencies in final scores
      • Recommend adjustments to audit technique
      • Develop a training program and train auditors
  1. Provide support to Production and Quality Departments in all RCP Business units
    • Assure that quality and product safety systems development, implementation and verification are in place in order to make quality evaluations, recommend actions for improvement, and assure resolution.
      This role is responsible to report deviations from established standards and policies to facility and business unit leadership and to insure prompt and immediate corrective action.
    • Provide support through experimental design and statistical techniques to define process capabilities.
    • Product Development
      • Attend production trials
      • Collate and analyze information obtained during production trials
  1. Supplier Base
    • Working with suppliers to the business to assure Due Diligence assessments to:
      • Uphold RCP’s Ethical Policy and the ethical requirements.
      • Measure and maintain quality, capability and continuous improvement at our vendors
    • Travel is required both international and domestic to establish and maintain good working relationships with suppliers.
    • Shared responsibility for the maintenance of the RCP Supplier dashboard including audit scheduling




Job Requirements

To  be considered for the Quality and Manufacturing System Specialist opportunity, candidates should possess:

  1.  Qualifications:
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field, packaging technology or materials science or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the manufacture of food packaging or food contact consumer goods.
    • Experience: Experience in a manufacturing and quality management environment.
  2. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    • Knowledge
      • Good engineering or materials science background
      • Practical knowledge of the metal processing industry and manufacturing processes for consumer disposable products, such as paper, PE & PVC films, and thermoforming of PS, PETE, …
      • Strong statistical knowledge and its applications to achieve continuous improvement.
      • Trained in or working knowledge of the requirements of GFSI Standards for Packaging, ISO9001 and ISO 22000
    • Skills
      • Competent use of quality programs, lean manufacturing and regulatory requirements
      • Ability to use statistical tools for problem solving and process improvement
    • Abilities
      • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, to deal concisely with staff at all levels
      • Hands-on experience with computers, MS Office especially MS Excel and Word
      • Must be team oriented with the ability to work independently & collaboratively, with all levels from floor operations to senior management.
      • Bilingual is a plus. In particular Spanish, or any other of the European Languages.
